Protecting Education and Public Safety
Governor Brewer has been a strong supporter of education and public safety to create the competitive workforce and the stable environment we need to attract jobs and sustain our long term growth.
- Supported Proposition 100 – a temporary revenue boost for education and public safety to prevent dramatic cuts which would have harmed Arizona’s economic recovery. Proposition 100 passed overwhelmingly with 64% of the vote.
- Signed into law all of the education bills touted in her January State of the State address.
- Fought to prevent massive cuts to education and worked closely with educators and school leaders on how to structure the current cuts.
- Focused on reform to ensure student achievement increases in this era of diminished resources.
- Endorsed by the Arizona Police Association.
